The tourism activity in SIMCA is operated under the supervision of Reef Guardian to ensure that the impact on the activity to the conservation area is minimised. This include the utilisation of proper sewage treatment system, solid waste disposal at the island.

Lankayan and Billean Islands are using unique sewage treatment plants to treat wastewater (grey and black water) from bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and sinks before releasing the water is discharged into the surrounding areas. Other waste management includes the use of grease traps at the staff canteen and kitchen, separation of solid waste through the use of separate garbage bins, and the proper transfer and disposal of solid waste and oil and grease into the mainland.
